Is Mammoth on the Epic or Ikon Pass? (2026–27)
Mammoth is on the Ikon Pass, not Epic. Here’s exactly what each Ikon pass gets you at Mammoth and June Mountain for 2026–27, plus blackout dates and Epic alternatives.

The short answer
Mammoth is on the Ikon Pass, not Epic. For 2026–27, both the full Ikon Pass and the cheaper Ikon Base Pass get you unlimited days at Mammoth Mountain and June Mountain. The Base Pass has a few holiday blackout dates. The Ikon Session Pass gets you 2 to 4 days total. If you have an Epic Pass, the closest resorts are in Lake Tahoe.
This is one of the most common questions people ask when they’re picking a pass in California, so here’s the quick, current answer for the 2026–27 season, straight from the official Ikon Pass site.
I go to Mammoth all the time. For the last three or four years, I’ve been spending whole stretches there, sometimes two or three weeks at a time, because I just love it that much. And I ride it on my Ikon Base Pass, so I can tell you firsthand: it’s worth it if Mammoth is your mountain.

Mammoth on each Ikon Pass (2026–27)
| Pass | Mammoth Mountain | June Mountain | Price (adult, from) |
|---|---|---|---|
| Ikon Pass | Unlimited, no blackouts | Unlimited | $1,449 |
| Ikon Base Pass | Unlimited, limited blackout dates | Unlimited | $1,019 |
| Ikon Session Pass | 2, 3 or 4 total days | Included in your days | $319 |

Ikon vs Ikon Base for Mammoth
Both get you unlimited days at Mammoth. The difference is blackout dates and what you get elsewhere:
- Ikon Base Pass: unlimited at Mammoth, but with blackout dates at select destinations. For 2026–27, Ikon lists Dec. 26–30, Jan. 16–17 and Feb. 13–14 (MLK and Presidents’ Day weekends). Check whether they apply at Mammoth before you plan a holiday trip.
- Full Ikon Pass: no blackouts, plus more days at other resorts (7 days each instead of 5) and a few more discounts.
If you can ski around the holidays, the Base Pass is the better deal for most people. I have the Ikon Base, and it worked great for me, including 5 days in Niseko, Japan.

Is Mammoth on the Epic Pass?
No. Mammoth and June Mountain aren’t on Epic. If you’re an Epic Pass holder in California, your resorts are up in Lake Tahoe: Heavenly, Northstar and Kirkwood. From Mammoth, those are a few hours’ drive north.
Other California resorts on the Ikon Pass
- Palisades Tahoe: unlimited on both Ikon and Ikon Base
- Big Bear Mountain Resort: unlimited on both
- Snow Valley: unlimited on both
- Sierra-at-Tahoe: 7 days on Ikon, 5 on Ikon Base
So if you live in Southern California, the Ikon gets you Big Bear for quick day trips and Mammoth for the big weekends, which is a big reason it’s the go-to pass for SoCal riders.
Can you buy a Mammoth-only pass?
Yes. Mammoth also sells its own local season passes, which can make sense if you only ride Mammoth and June. Check the latest options on the Mammoth local passes page before you buy.
